Dr. Kevin Hewison completed his Ph.D. in 1984 at the School of Human Communication, Murdoch University. He has held academic posts at Murdoch University, the Australian National University, the University of Papua New Guinea, Mahidol University (Thailand), the University of New England and the City University of Hong Kong in social science and area studies disciplines. Dr. Hewison was the Foundation Chair of Asian Studies at the University of New England and then Director of City University's Southeast Asia Research Centre. He is the author of more than 150 publications on Southeast Asia, democratization and globalization. In addition to his academic work, Professor Hewison has considerable experience working as a professional social scientist and adviser in Southeast Asia, South Asia and Southern Africa. His current research interests include: globalization and social change in Southeast Asia, especially Thailand; democratization; and labor issues.
