The Carolina Asia Center, a unit of the College of Arts and Sciences, is a core element of UNC-Chapel Hill’s initiative to strengthen its position as a world-class international university.

CAC (pronounced “see ay see”) is the hub for three sets of inter-related activities focusing on Asia: Cutting-edge Research; Innovative Teaching; and Strategic Partnerships.

• New Thailand and Southeast Asia Studies Fund

  To support the development of Thailand and Southeast Asia studies at UNC, the Carolina Asia Center is pleased to announce the establishment of the Thailand/Southeast Asia Fund. This fund will increase faculty, graduate and undergraduate student opportunities for engagement in the region. Funds will be used for a variety of activities over the next year including enhancing course offerings on Thailand and Southeast Asia, supporting study abroad in the region, hosting a visiting scholar, expanding library holdings, and coordinating public workshops on Southeast Asia. These opportunities are made possible by a generous grant from Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.
