Kengkij Kitirianglarp
Mr. Kengkij Kitirianglarp is a doctoral candidate from Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He holds a Thai government scholarship that requires that he spend time at UNC, working with hisd co-supervisor, Professor Kevin Hewison. His dissertation concerns the rise and fall of Thai Rak Thai government. Kengkij will be with the Carolina Asian Center from Fall 2007 to Summer 2008. His major area of research interest is contemporary Thai politics, with a particular focus on social movements and the role of the state in political and economic development. A socialist, he is a political activist in Thailand and writes critical articles on Thai politics for various student's and social movements newspapers and magazines. He is the author of a recent publication on "The welfare state as an alternative to Thai Rak Thai populism" (in Thai). |
